In response to the global impact of the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE), the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) will continue Medicaid and WVCHIP healthcare coverage for individuals, families, and children through the end of the month in which the COVID-19 PHE ends and will close coverage only for a limited number of reasons, regardless of changes in your circumstances. We value our citizens and hope these changes will lessen some of your concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic. For additional questions regarding your Medicaid or WVCHIP coverage, please contact the Customer Service Center at 1-877-716-1212.
WVCHIP will be joining the West Virginia Mountain Health Trust (MHT) managed care program effective January 1, 2021. WVCHIP is making this change to better assist with your child’s heath care needs. Under Mountain Health Trust, you will choose a managed care organization (MCO) and a primary care physician (PCP). MCOs help ensure your child receives scheduled preventive care and coordinates other health care needs of your child. For more information, see the Member and Provider tabs.
